Marg Helgenberger’s last episode for “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” has been revealed. The 52-year-old, who has portrayed Catherine Willows since the first season of the CBS long-running series, will leave the show after the 12th episode of season 12.
“Marg will be around through January, so episode 12,” executive producer Carol Mendelsohn said, before adding, “People come and go and come back, so hopefully when we say goodbye, that won’t be the last time we see her.”
Helgenberger initially planned to make season 11 her last, but Mendelsohn asked her to stay for more episodes so that the writers could properly script her exit. “The combination of that info and me having a hard time letting go of this show and this group of people, I said, ‘Yeah, I’m not done playing this character; I’m not done letting go of this group of people,” Helgenberger said at the TCA on Wednesday, August 3.
The Emmy Award-winning actress went on teasing her possible return. “[The odds that this is my last season] are pretty strong,” she claimed. “Yeah, I mean, there’s chance [I’d come back]. They’ve always left the door open for me.”
“CSI” will kick off its 12th season on Wednesday, September 21, at 10 P.M. Ted Danson is cast for the lead role of D.B. Russell after Laurence Fishburne decided to quit the show last June.
Taking part in the Television Critics Association press tour, “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” has given away the first clip of the upcoming season which offers a look at Ted Danson in his role. As a new lead investigator, he has his own way to try to get information from a young witness.
Danson’s character, D.B. Russell, has been said to be a bit more light-hearted than Ray Langston who was portrayed by Laurence Fishburne. Executive producer Don McGill additonally described Russell as a family man “who grew up with counter-culture parents and traveled around with them.” He went on elaborating, “They were folk singers. He wasn’t just home-schooled, he was van-schooled.”
With Danson’s arrival and a new arc, executive producer Carol Mendelsohn teased that season 12 will be lighter. “I think you can infer it [from the clip],” she claimed. “Last season we were chasing a serial killer … that arc has come to an end. With the introduction of our new CSI superior who has his own process, I think you can say it’s a lighter season.”
Also during the panel at the TCA, Marg Helgenberger stated that the upcoming twelfth season will be the last for her. “I’ve been itching to get back on the stage, but it’s been hard. The commitment on this show and then raising a son, who’s now 20, a production assistant on CSI!” she explained her reason to quit.
Still, the Catherine Willows depicter did not rule out possibility of her returning for more episodes. “[The odds that this is my last season] are pretty strong,” she admitted. “Yeah, I mean, there’s chance [I’d come back]. They’ve always left the door open for me.”
As for why she backed out of her initial plan to leave “CSI” in season 11, she said she was “having a hard time letting go.” She further stated, “I was not yet done playing this character. That’s why I decided to extend (my contract) a little bit.”
Starting the 12th season of “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation“, Ted Danson will take the charge as the lead investigator. A first look at him handling a case is now unveiled as he is pictured on the set at the Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas on July 25 along with returning star Marg Helgenberger and newly promoted regular cast Jorja Fox.
Danson is cast as the new head of the graveyard shift at the crime lab after Laurence Fishburne announced his departure from the long-running crime series last June. His character moves to Las Vegas from the Portland crime lab, and is described as a bit more light-hearted than Laurence’s Ray Langston.
“CSI” will return for its twelfth season on Wednesday, September 21, at 10 P.M. on CBS. It will see the team still grappling with the professional and personal fallout from last season’s take-down of serial killer Nate Haskell.
Following the announcement of Laurence Fishburne’s exit from “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” last month, CBS has tapped Ted Danson to fill in the vacant role. Rumor has it, the network chose Ted among the likes of candidates such as Robin Williams, Tony Shalhoub and John Lithgow.
Ted will play a new grave shift supervisor who moves to Las Vegas from the Portland crime lab. The 63-year-old TV star vet is going to join the “CSI” team “as they are still grappling with the professional and personal fallout from last season’s take-down of serial killer, Nate Haskell (Bill Irwin).”
Ted’s character reportedly will be a bit more light-hearted than Laurence’s Ray Langston, and more in the vein of his predecessor, William Petersen’s Gil Grissom. “You can create a new character on the page, but until the perfect actor comes along and breathes life into it, it’s just words,” said executive producer Carol Mendelsohn.
Talking about how Ted will fit into the new character, exec producer Don McGill gushed, “From the moment we all started talking about the role, it was clear he couldn’t be more perfect. Intelligence, wit, warmth, depth of character and emotion, he brings it all. And now he’ll have to bring latex gloves, too.”
“CSI: Crime Scene Investivation” once was a top show. However, since Petersen left the show as a regular in 2008, “CSI” went from being in the Top 5 slot to number 30. Still, the TV series stands as the most-watched series in the world. It will return for a new season with the “Bored to Death” star Ted on board on September 21.
Its been more than a month that CSI: Crime Scene Investigation episodes have completed one more season of its run. The fans of the series viewed the finale episode of CSI: Crime Investigation Scene Season 11 on 12th May. Unfortunately that was the last episode in which we saw series’ main lead Laurence Fishburne playing the role of Dr. Raymond (Ray) Langster.
Laurence Fishburne’s contract ended and as we all know that he signed a contract for a single year with the series, this time he did not renew it. I guess he always took a safe side so that he can leave the show anytime he wishes. He always kept a scope to move to another venture if it came his way.
But Fishburne’s exit has left the upcoming CSI: Crime Scene Investigation Season 12 episodes without a main lead. Fishburne had been playing the main lead since season 9. Before him William Petersen was the main lead, he left the series after completing 8 seasons onboard.
As it is the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation episodes have noticed a downfall in ratings and viewership past few seasons. May be that is the reason Fishburne left the series. Keeping the reason apart, the main situation in front the creators is that now who will be the next main lead in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation Season 12? Whoever the main lead will be is important as to some extent the ratings and the viewership of the show will depend on this.
Those of you who still love the series can watch CSI: Crime Scene Investigation Season 12 Premiere episode on 21st September as the premiere date has been recently announced. To catch the premiere watch CSI online.
Laurence Fishburne is resigning from “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” after two-and-a-half seasons. The “Predators” actor has decided not to renew his contract which expired this season and is reportedly looking forward to returning to film full-time.
Although the Emmy Award-winning and Oscar-nominated actor was a main cast, CBS and the show’s producers were allegedly not surprised by his decision to leave. “Nobody expected him to be on the show for 7 years, it’s Laurence Fishburne,” an insider told Deadline.
Fishburne joined the successful crime drama series in the ninth season. He was cast as Dr. Raymond Langston after original star William Petersen quit in December 2008. The show itself has been renewed for a twelfth season and will return this fall.
On another news, “Harry’s Law” is also losing its regulars. Brittany Snow and Aml Ameen will not return to the NBC legal dramedy when it returns for a second season.
We all know that our favorite crime series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation Season 11 episodes ended with its finale episode on 12th May 2011. But there is nothing to worry as soon you will get to see new episodes of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation Season 12, as next season has been renewed.
Its always interesting watching the suspense of crime case being disclosed by the CSI team. So fans of the series eagerly await new episodes of the series, this is the biggest reason that the series has run for 11 long years and is still going strong.
Soon new episodes of CSI Season 12 will be aired but before you watch them you should recollect the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation Season 11 finale episode. The finale episode was titled “In a Dark, Dark House”. It was not up to the mark as being a finale episode it should have been the most interesting and mysterious case episode. But to the disappointment it was not so.
The only good thing that we saw in this CSI: Crime Scene Investigation episode was that villain Nate Haskell got killed. But a villain like Haskell being killed in just one episode and that to by Ray, that was something viewers did not expect from CSI series. Ray and his wife had been kidnapped and were put on gunpoint by Haskell and in a fight Ray kills Haskell.
Soon Brass comes and cleans up the evidence to save Ray from being accused. Later the team also joins the scene of crime. Ray is proved innocent and it is declared that he killed Haskell in self defense.
Though an important villain was killed but this episode lacked suspense, chase and excitement. All will have to wait for the next season to catch the team solving new cases.
